Spokane County‘s Bicycle Master Plan:

Its accomplishments, goals, and next steps

We are pleased to have with us, Jami Hayes, Senior Project Manager for the Spokane County Public Works department.

Jami is responsible for creating the County’s Bicycle Master Plan. We will get a special report of what has been accomplished, what is happening right now, and what is coming up. Our members have had a definite impact on what Spokane County has done to further our cycling infrastructure and Jami is excited to share some of these accomplishments.

We will also give you an update on our upcoming events including Bike Everywhere Month, The Cross Washington Tour, and The Colville Tour.

The Spokane Bicycle Club (SBC) is offering a 6-day Cross Washington Tour for club members in June 2024 with an emphasis on adventure, safety, comfort, and affordability.

The route will start in Monroe, WA. and end in Spokane, WA. with stops in Skykomish, Leavenworth, Quincy, Coulee City, and Wilbur.

Each rider must be capable of cycling 50+ miles per day on multiple days.

The route will focus on a safe route maximizing low traffic Farm to Market Roads or, as necessary, higher volume roads with wide shoulders.

The tour will include sag support and luggage transport to designated locations (camping and motel) each day.

All rides are on hard surfaced roads; road bikes are appropriate. E-bikes are welcome.

Registration for the ride will be available on the events page after February 19, 2024

We are looking forward to this wonderful cycling adventure and hope to see you at the meeting.

Indoor Cycling- Zwift Group Rides

We have been offering indoor cycling group rides on Zwift for a couple months now. If you haven’t ridden Zwift, it is just as much of a workout as the real road. Our rides are in a group format where as long as you pedal, you will stay with the group. We also use the Discord app so we can talk to each other in real time to help those that need technical assistance, help with passing the time on the bike, or just socializing.

Our real road riding season has started so we are not offering as many regular Zwift rides. However, we do have Popup Zwift rides when weather or air quality prevents us from getting outside on the bike. We will get back to a regular Zwifting schedule next winter so you can keep your fitness through those months.

Zwift has been a great way to stay connected during the off season. Zwift is also a great way to stay in shape during those off months. It’s a great way to compliment rides during the season, and a great way to get “a quick ride” in. Honestly, Zwift is an excellent training tool.

If you would like more information, click the following link for complete instructions on how to join us on these rides. Zwift Instructions Link
